West Windsor, Vermont passed a CEASEFIRE resolution on March 5, 2024
As stated in their meeting minutes: “Peter Money asked for the Town to support a Non-Binding Resolution which would call for an immediate cease fire from both parties in GAZA, and that our Vermont State Representatives lodge that Resolution. Majority in favor.”
*Vermont does things differently from most states. Every year, most of the towns and municipalities in Vermont have a “Town Meeting Day”, which is also a statewide holiday in Vermont. This year, Town Meeting Day was on March 5th. On Town Meeting Day, the townspeople get together (usually in person) to elect local officials, vote on budgets, and conduct other town business. During the 2024 Town Meeting Day, a total of Thirteen Vermont Towns called for a CEASEFIRE in Gaza. Many of these “resolutions” were not conducted on paper, but rather were passed by townspeople verbally calling for a ceasefire and the town then voting on whether or not to make that the official stance of the town.
